Kidde 0919-9999/ RF-SM-DC Battery-Operated Smoke Alarm, Wirelessly InterconnectableReviewsI actually had to buy this replacement because I broke one of them trying to get it down. When the battery goes low in one, all of them beep, so you have to replace the batteries in all of them. That is a real pain because we have 5 of them throughout our 3 story home. I would imagine they would be very effective in the case of a fire. They all blare very loudly when testing. All in all they are not very maintenance friendly, but I do trust them to do their job. I purchased 4 of these wirelessly interconnected smoke alarms for the 2500sq/ft house that my wife and I are renting. Being in a fairly large house where we often leave doors closed, I felt it was important to have an interconnected system to ensure that we get the earliest (and loudest)notification possible. I would have preferred to have hardwired interconnected smoke alarms, but being as we're renting, I didn't want to start stringing wires all over the house and drilling holes. These Kidde alarms seemed like a perfect fit...they are one of the few wirelessly interconnectable smoke alarms on the market that I can find. I received the alarms in good order through Amazon Prime 2-day shipping. Setting them up was completely painless. Each alarm has series of small switches on the back of them which is used to "encode" them to talk to only each other. Ensure the coding is identical on the back of all your alarms (PRIOR to putting batteries in), and then put them up like any other smoke alarm. It really is that simple. I did that, tested the alarms a few times...and it worked immediately. Pressing the test button on any of the alarms caused ALL of the alarms to go through the test cycle. Awesome...I felt safer already. Then, unfortunately, a big problem arose. I own a Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System, with many additional sensors integrated into it. One of the sensors I use is a Skylink AS-433E Alarm Sensor, which I use to have the smoke alarms trigger my overall security system when smoke is present. This allows me to be notified of the alarms going off, even if no one is home to hear them. Unfortunately, I came to find out that these smoke alarms operate in the same frequency band as my Skylink Security System...the ISM 902-928MHz band centering on 915. These alarms completely jam all of my security system while they are going off. Not only will it jam the alarm sensor's transmission to the control console, but the also the door sensors, the motion sensors, and the vibration sensors. Basically, it bricks my entire security system. This, obviously, was not acceptable to me. I considered purchasing a competitors equivalent of these alarms, but it appears they also work in the same frequency band. So, I'm returning these alarms, and getting more traditional smoke detectors. In Short: These alarms provide a great capability. They are easy to install, and seemed to work (for the 24hrs I had them, anyways) as one would expect them to. HOWEVER...while the Kidde website erroneously says to not worry about RF interference, make sure the RF frequency of these alarms does not interfere with an already existing wireless security system that you may have. If your security system operates in the ISM 902-928 band, these may cause problems. I interconnect this unit with my wired 120V smoke detector system (Kidde sells an interconnect unit). It works great and was trivial to install. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2RCJVNTZPFMTL Watch video on Kidde 1279-9999 and Kidde 0919-9999 for complete installation instructions. I bought 5 Detectors and instoled them all around the house. Didn't have any problems with instruction and set up. No wire, no professional instollation and no servise fees. System works perfectly so far - everebody know emediatly when I burn food on kitchen. Average Rating:![]() |

Kidde 1279-9999/RF-SM-AC Hardwire Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup, InterconnectableReviewsPurchased three of these units to replace three existing hard wired ones that were 15 years old. I hadn't known they are suppose to be replaced every 10 years. They were easy to install and I had to use the adapter connectors so it meant rewiring them, which was simple. Just make sure you turn off the power. Tested them and they worked fine. I know they work properly, because a couple of weeks after installation some cheese fell off a pizza in the oven and burned. I had a cold and didn't smell it but all of the alarms sounded. I used the "Hush" feature which beats waving a towel to silence them. There is a spot to write the installation date on the unit so you can tell when to replace them in 10 years. It is comforting to know they are there and working. I purchased the battery wireless smoke alarm units RF-SM-DC from a large chain home improvement store for a home I just purchased. I wanted to extend the existing hard-wired system without having to add additional wiring into the bedrooms. After getting home and reading the directions (the packaging directions were not real clear), I found I needed one hardwired AC wireless smoke alarm RF-SM-AC to replace one of my existing hardwired units. Unfortunately, the home improvement store didn't have the hard wired unit and the sales people didn't have a clue that one was required. They said they would get some, but so far, nothing. I may have to go to Amazon to get one to complete my project. Disillusioned with retail home improvement sales unit. My home has a lot of 120V wired Firex smoke detectors that are interconnected to my monitored house alarm. Unfortunately, the prior owners did not install a smoke detector in what I consider to be a key room. I did not want to keep the door open all the time, so this room really needed its own smoke detector. Extending the existing wired system would have been a real pain involving small attic crawlspaces. This product allowed me to create a hybrid interconnected wired and wireless system. I replaced a nearby wired smoke detector with this interconnect unit and installed a battery powered wireless smoke detector in the target room, making sure the two units had identical DIP switch settings so they'd link up. It works great, and since it interconnects with my wired system, the new room is covered by my monitored house alarm. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R7IJ2CW1QZY6W Watch video on Kidde 1279-9999 and Kidde 0919-9999 for complete installation instructions. For an older home, this is ideal. No new wiring to run. Hard to find in "home type" stores. Average Rating:![]() |

Ramsey TFM3C Tri Field Meter and "Ghost" Detector KitReviewsRamsey makes top knotch electronics. Knowledge of electronics ia a great help with this KIT. Recommend As advertised it does what it says it can do it is a trifield meter which is a good thing for ghost hunters they can shift to the magnetic settings which eliminates a lot of extra emfs like from electrical wires cell phones etc..but it is only good if you are a bit tight on cash and you cant afford a digital or natural trifield meter which will actually give you readings...the kit is not for beginners to build it will require a lot of soldering and stuff... nothing more to say this is a good ghost hunting product ...it can be used as a secondary meter with a normal emf meter with which you can have some readings side by side with fancy lightings.. This is a fun kit to build. Like all Ramsey kits, it has a complete instruction manual that gives you step by step build instructions, as well as some introduction to the electronic theory that went in to the design. You can expect to spend two to three hours working on the kit. I built this kit over the holidays with my 12 year old nephew. It was a lot of fun and he and the other kids had a great time locating magnetic and electric fields through out the house. We didn't find any ghosts. There is a lot of soldering involved in building this kit, so if you don't have a fume extractor it would probably be worthwhile getting one before building this kit. Average Rating:![]() |

Call it a Tri-Field Meter, an Electrical, Magnetic, and RF Detector, a Ghost Detector, or a Tricorder that even Mr. Spock would like, but what ever you call it, it works great to detect all three invisible fields! The TFM3C has three separate field sensors that are user selectable to provide a really cool readout on two highly graphical LED bargraphs! Utilizing the latest technology, including Hall Effect sensors, you can walk around your house and actually SEE these fields around you! You will be amazed at what you see... |

P3 International P7050 Mini Bug DetectorReviewsThe unit does work. It is ~all~ that small? NO. The item's description states that it weighs 2 lbs. So, to the guy who states how over-sized it is...I recommend that he learns to read item's descriptions FIRST. The unit is not too small, but works...and saves big bucks over smaller-type units. This is a great product but the NSA was a step ahead of me! Now I'm in prison! Works great against drug-lords and Golden-Palace "security" but watch out once The Man gets involved! This is cheap garbage and is not mini at all ! Cheapo-junk all the way! Average Rating:![]() |

Professional Wireless RF Signal Bug DetectorReviewsSave your money. This unit will buzz near most any electrical outlet. It never picked up recorders that we placed around to find. The signal on this thing is WEAK. You have to be right up on a bug in order to detect it. But that's how I always saw them using those things on the Soprano's and similar shows. That's how I think it should be done anyway, so you can figure out the location of what exactly is setting off your surveillance detector. Average Rating:![]() |
